He went on a continuous spiritual journey in 2013 and lived in places such as India, Thailand, Georgia, and Indonesia. ALECEO spent more than eight years in Ubud, a town in Bali. On these trips, he absorbed the musical culture of those places and used those opportunities to create unique music. ALECEO’s artistic vision is based on the idea of music as a vehicle for altered emotional/psychological states. He has built a career out of combining multiple genres, including organic/deep house, downtempo, folktronica, Balearic music, IDM, ethnic/world music, and psychedelic/ecstatic-dance music. His music creation process is purposeful and is focused on crafting mind-altering soundscapes with a focus on human psychology.
ALECEO’s influences make him one of the more interesting electronic artists. He draws inspiration from Eastern spiritual philosophies and mysticism. These spiritual influences can be heard in tracks such as “Duduk,” where ALECEO and Al’ba incorporate the 100-syllable Vajrasattva mantra into an organic-house composition. His long-standing connection to Bali has also played an important role in his artistic development, exposing him to the island’s environment and musical culture. His Western electronic influences are also worth mentioning. He combines deep house, Balearic music, downtempo, and organic house with elements of vintage electronic production to create an accessible yet distinctive sound.
